East Coast legend Mike Baker put on his annual Banked Slalom for the fourth or so time on March 12, 2016. For this year, the festivities moved north to Waterville, where the liquor laws are looser than the women. (Just kidding, there are no women, really.) While I sadly missed the event, Josh Campbell was goodly enough to shoot some photos of what certainly looked like a bang up time and I will do my best to make up what is happening in each so you can feel like you were there.
Precision timing systems.
This is Mike Baker.
He greatly enjoys cold PBRs when not hucking them at his friends (we’ll get there.)
The start gate gave the competitors wiings.
This guy, however, brought his own.
Nothing to see here.
Turning made far more aggressive when done while dodging snowballs.
Or while wearing a tail.
Even the kids fell victim to the gauntlet.
Tree hugging? Nah, Preparing sharp projectiles, obviously.
This guy got so aggressive his lenses fell out.
Josh ducked into the bushes to keep his camera gear safe.
But again, no one was really safe.
Nelson was there.
Would you let your kids around these animals?
Refreshments were served.
The food left something to be desired, though.
When snow balls turn into sticks.
Last minute course addition.
This about sums it up.
Cheers to beers!
And more half naked men.
Not so much anymore.
No one made it down unscathed.
No, it’s not a jib course, this is just what happens when you let people do whatever they want in New Hampshire.
