After spending the past few weeks in the YoBeat office as the new intern, I’ve realized these people just don’t know what good music sounds like. Or maybe they do, and they still choose to listen to bad music. But seriously, Brooke and Jared are blasting an awful 90’s rock Pandora station while Justin is listening to reggae beats through his huge rasta-colored headphones… Something really needs to change here. I personally think I listen to pretty banger music, so I’m here to shove it down your ear canals, and hopefully enlighten a few of you in the process. photo Ryan Finder
First up, I’m hoping to set you off with some of my favorite songs to ride to. We all know how much of a bummer it is when an amazing song on your iPod switches on to an awful song mid trick. Enter the playlist. Of course, not all snowboarding is created equal, so I’ve actually created TWO playlists: the POW playlist, and the Not Pow playlist. These are rather short (I normally have around 300 songs on mine) but for the sake of the article, I stripped them down to the bare basics.
So now you know where I’m coming from. Check back weekly-or-so for more thoughts on music, or if you have some of your own, submissions are always welcome. I will warn you though, if you are trying to promote your new obscure band’s record that sounds like it’s been recorded inside of a hairdryer, then don’t.
