At what point are triple corks going to no longer be news? Seems like every Euros got one now… That said, at least this one’s got some style.

2012 is the year of the triple, and as usual burn unit rider Stale Sandbech is ahead of the game as he joins the elite handful of snowboarders in the world to have performed a Triple by stomping the very first-ever Frontside triple Underflip 1260 on his first try.

‘Before I took the run in, I was pretty pumped up and ready to try it. Of course I had nerves, but I had so much adrenalin so that kind of just pushed the nerves away. Then when I stomped it I was kind of surprised as I landed. At first I was really happy I didn’t have to try it again, and of course I was super stoked I landed a triple.’

TTR Overall Champion and a triple — Not a bad way to end the season. Stale is on a roll and set to kill it this winter

that was cool but…first ever? torstein did that at the xgames on that tiny big air jump. and calling that a 12 is a little ridiculous. looks like a triple backflip 180 to me. didnt we have this discussion when everyone claimed torsteins wasnt a triple ‘cork’ either?

i think people do these things just to say they did. everyone knows its not very stylish or going to be in almost any competition. But if you can do it and tell yourself you just accomplished something that impressive its quite a thrill i bet.
