We really try and make things on this site interesting to people who don’t live in Oregon, but sometimes, we just have to share our stoke. So good news for us! Mt. Hood Meadows will most likely open on Wednesday, November 11th. Not only is this NOT a weekend (stoked) but over a month earlier than last year. See ya at the ghetto SE tire place on Monday where we’ll be getting studded.
MT. HOOD MEADOWS ANNOUNCES OPENING Wednesday opening most likely
Perfect storm and promising forecast bode well for early opening to the ski season
MT. HOOD, OR (Immediate Release) — Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort officials say they expect to open the resort next week, most likely Wednesday. The resort has received 21 inches of snow since Friday and continues to rage dropping two inches of snow per hour the last two hours. Resort officials are confident that with this snowfall and the forecast for more accumulations and colder weather through the weekend that they’ll be able to open the resort for at least a limited opening next week.
Resort Executive Director of Communications Dave Tragethon says this is the perfect storm for an early opening. “This storm should give us enough of a snowpack to groom it into a quality experience, and the forecast looks like we’re going to be able to sustain it. We’re excited about getting this season open early for our guests.”
The number of lifts and trails, as well as confirming an opening day will be announced through the resort’s web site, skihood.com, as the storm develops.
Mt. Hood Meadows season passes are on sale through Sunday online and also at the Ski Fever and Snowboard Show at the Expo Center. Monday season pass prices increase significantly.
