Everything is Free on Fridays!

We’ve totally been blowing it by paying for things on Fridays. It seems pretty much everyone has picked the penultimate day of the work week to give stuff away! Here’s just a small sampling of shit you don’t have to pay for today.

686 Free Fridays. Today it’s a jacket:

Check 686’s status update on our facebook page Friday at 2pm EST  for this weeks Free Friday question.  For example, “Which of these 686 Jackets will help you to survive an avalanche?”

Then, look through the Free Friday photo album on our facebook page. Commit the 5 photos to memory.

Next, cruise on over to 686.com, and read the descriptions for each one of the items in question. Keep your eyes peeled for clues that will guide you to the answer, i.e. “This jacket features RECCO® advanced technology’…”

We know it’s hard not to get caught up in the technical descriptions, but don’t dilly dally too long because the game ends at 5:00 EST or as soon as the tag limit has been reached! So, head back to the Free Fridays album once you’ve figured it out, and tag yourself on the corresponding photo.

Are you confused as to the definition of “penultimate?” Taking a dig at those of us who don’t work on Saturday, on some “we 24/7 round the clock grinding” angle?

    …because, um…

Yes, we are confused. Just trying to sound smart. So it means the day before the last day? whatever.

Um, US Outdoor store is a store in Portland and they have a website. They sell snowboard gear and tents, etc.

I came to point out the misuse of penultimate but now I’m more upset about the fuckin’ banner ads for Scientology.

alright cool. bonus for keeping it there: this aint no spelling bee etc.

US Outdoor Store always felt too much like a Big 5 or GART Sports to get the local love that it did. Good to see it’s still there.

I think the “US” part is just GI Joe’s enough that I get hung up on it. Portland is known for its un-americanness…I wonder if it’s all ironical taking back the power of the word type shit now…

at any rate: penultimate means “next to last,” and the work week is generally M-F. But this is web2.0, so I guess anything goes. Nobody has jobs anyways fuck it

I agree US Outdoor is weird. I worked there for a month. The people who work there are really into it (I wasn’t.) But I don’t think it’s a bad place, it’s not owned by a giant corporation so the money spent there stays in Portland, which is neat.
