Firing Squad: Miller vs Sell

We get it, the winning photo is just straight up gnarly. It’s hard to be discerning about composition, color balance and all the nit picky things you could find wrong with a photo when you are not sure how exactly the subject lived to tell the story. Jonathan Kirby’s photo was great, but it still couldn’t stand the heat. So for this week we’ve dipped into the archives to find the only other photo we’ve received that has enough action to compete. Will the reign continue or is this week’s competitor up to the challenge? You decide.

most action? i guess the voters will determine that. well Harry, so much for the rules. it really is all about your name and social network.

Please, no watermarks. To ensure fairness, names will not be published until a photo is out of contention (as of January 20, 2009.)

i guess some baby’s wanted the rules changed a while back to make it fair. i think because the last few photographers have been kids with a crazy amount of friends voting (whats wrong with that). the only reason i know about this site is cause robbie posted a bulletin on myspace during his last battle asking people to vote.

dont get me wrong, robbie is the man! but didnt we already put him in the winners circle a few weeks back?

Crap there is a watermark! Robbie– send us the photo with out it! DANG.

Like Tim said, we pulled this out of the archives because we really want to make the battles good, and while we’ve received a ton of great entries, none that were of similar subject matter. We couldn’t in good conscience put a handplant against the winning photo and not expect a blow out. But don’t worry, mini shred will return to the Firing Squad soon enough.

I would vote for the crevasse photo. Is the rider dumb or high?!! Didn’t Ben Lynch fall into one of those and nearly die?

I bet he’s high and dumb!! haha isn’t that the case with most snowboard riders. i appreciate both the photos…real cool, I really like the barb wire/phone poll “framing” but I can’t get over the fact that it looks like he slipped most of the way to the needle-thread…..if you’re gonna get gnarly, get gnarly!!
I’m just talking shit though because it looks like he could have taken it from the bush without worrying about scraping the knees/face/booty.
