It might
not have been Blue Crush, and Out Cold had a more realistic plot, but Grind
was fricken sweet. First of all, my boyfriend, the dude from that OC show,
is totally hot. And he’s funny, by far the funniest one in the movie.
Then
there’s Jeremy London. He plays the video game version of Tony Hawk but
he’s real and he has a tour bus. He was on the cover of some skate
magazine in the beginning so I’m thinking he’s the real deal. But seriously, the star
power in this movie was unbelievable. Tom Green, Dave Foley, Bobcat
Goldwaith, Ehren Mcgehey. Yeah, all in one movie.
So despite
being totally entertaining, I did have an issue with this movie. No, it
wasn’t the clown college and the skateboard montage where they all skate
dressed like clowns. The whole fricken movie the main dude carries his
skateboard by the trucks. Now, just about every pro skateboarder was in this
movie and you think one of them would have had the decency to let the
producers know that this would blow the credibility of the whole movie.
Okay, and
maybe the plot hole caused by the fact that the dudes were at least six
years too old to think that if they followed a tour they would go pro, but
it was almost covered by the fact that they thought vert skating was cool.
Which sets up with best line in the movie: “Dude, it’s Brian Patch!”
All in all though, Grind was the best movie ever.
Seriously. Go see it. It will probably be in theatres for at least another
week before ending up in video store hell.
