The New Hampshire Conspiracy of Sorts

Recently, I grew angry at a particular Plymouth State College student, for the sake of arguement, we'll call him Luke Mathison. In order to clam myself down, I vented in print (well, if you call the internet print) with the following editor's note. To my surprise, I received a plethora of letters about this very note. Some were congratulatory, some were upset, but most were hoping I wasn't referring to them. Because I love to stir up controversy, I'm going to print all these letters. Enjoy.

The now infamous editorial: This is my manifesto. I'm tired of being vibed at the hill. I feel that certain members of the snowboard community are more interested in making everyone else feel bad then perfecting their backside rodeos. Everytime I see certain people at the mountain, my day can go down hill (no pun intended) in a second. Now I'm with-it, I'm hip, and I'm down, so I can only imagine how these kids can make the random kids they don't know feel. If you are one of these kids, the kids who think because they spend everyday hitting the same jump, they have dibs on it, then chill out. Those kid who go off the jump way too slow, huck around a 360, fall over, then ride down to their bros to receive props, are probably having a lot more fun then you.

And the response:

Wow, you have finally figured out what I'm felling.doesn't it suck. I think everyone needs to grow up. Maybe at a meeting we should bring it up. We need to all be able to have fun at the hill, not try to be better than everyone else. From Tony Rossi.

I don't know who you are talking about in the opening paragraph on your page but I am almost positive that it has to
do with Ben Fee and Luke. The reason I am writing this is because you are cutting all of us down with your remarks, and that last time I checked I and many others don't vibe you. I know that the two punks and a few others are out of line on the hill but that is there problem. I wish you would specify who you are talking about and leave the others out of it.
Later. Paul Miller
PS. maybe you could try writing about some of the people that are nice to you, I know they are out there.

RE: yo beat front page: Too bad you haven't been having fun at the hill. You should expect less and you might get more. Everyone enjoys snowboarding in their own way, some people like just talking about it, while others.......you know what i'm saying? Whatever you're trying to do with Yobeat would be easier to enjoy without such heavy-handed editorial. Have some fun; ever tried 9-5, changing the oil in your car, how about ankle surgery? You could be doing worse things with your time, and remember it's YOUR TIME. It's fucking snowboarding, enjoy yourself.
Do not mistake my honesty for an attack, and thanks for the shout-outs in your article. Rock Out! Later, -Joel Muzzey.

If you want to really stick it to those pricks, pretend they don't exist. Start giving coverage and props to kids outside of their little circle. Spotlight people who couldn't give a shit. Start covering Vermont again, like you never left. They've got nothing. They think they do, but they've got nothing. Bottom line is that the majority of those kids have failed the state of New
Hampshire. With a few exceptions, they haven't helped it to get coverage, recognition, or respect.

Hey dude. I just read your little ditty on yobeaterbumrushafratamabob. I don't know what's up. I guess I kind of stay in my own little world, focus on what I choose to, and enjoy life. I have my opinions, and have said some dumb stuff before, but harsh vibing hasn't permeated any of my adventures, and I've kind of always prided our little scene up here on being open, relaxed, and progressive. I hope to one day do backside rodeos. They look neat. Anyway, please don't think that I attack you
or others like that. It's pretty dope to be in class with you. Sounds like yous a supa-smart kid.
Peace Out,
Merle Ironhorse

Ben and Luke are two of the nicest kids I know and I don't know if you were talking about them but they aren't into "vibing" and although I do not ride at Loon that much anymore I know that my n.h. friends are not a crew that thinks they own the jumps in fact I think they are just the opposite. If you are a nice kid you are automatically down with the so called crew that I don't even think exists. So please don't give my friends a bad rap they are dope and you are dope and have fun snowboarding.
Peace out yo
Scott Arnold

New Hampshire is total kick ass! I've been there 3 times and no one ever vibed me. Then I went to Vermont and got vibed left and right because I'm not a damn pipe rat. That pussy who wouldn't put his name after his beat letter should go ride a jump, fuck pipe.
