Center City Shred Sesh

Tessa hard at work

On November 11, 2005 a Burton sponsored rail jam shut down one of the sketchy, I mean classy, downtown Burlington streets. The setup consisted of a “c-box and some box and flat/down rail built into one goofy monstrosity that you could slide simultaneously” Showtime quoted.

The jam attracted riders from southern Vermont (Killington), local (Burlington), and even foreigners (Canadians). There was killer steez all over the place and screaming fans/pro hoes from sidewalk to across the street to the other sidewalk. Mannis and DJ Russell were keepin’ it gangsta for the ears of the crowd with sweet rappin’ skills. Ebo amused us with his announcing skills for the finals and was almost as entertaining as the Dingo. Yale and Rotax won and split the grand. Pat Kagy and Mike Toohey made it to finals with Chris Rotax and Yale Cousino. Kagy won the Darkside Best Trick award for a frontside 270 on, 270 off the sketchy van box.

Mad peeps all up in this piece

The after-party at Opus had plenty of free drink tickets but you couldn’t get to the f*#%ing bar to get one and once you finally made it to the bar the bartender wasn’t skillful enough to take your order. “I swear to God, I stood there for 18 minutes and still couldn't get one cause the bartender was about as fast as I would imagine Stevie Wonder might be behind the bar. We ended up at Esox where the drinks were cheap, fast, and strong, just like I like my women...hahaha” quoted Showtime, one of my after-party companions.

By the end of the brisk evening on the stumble home I realized I had scored some fabulous souvenirs from the evening. A great pair of fashionably trendy eesa socks (if you think you have good style, you should check their stuff out) and a handful of useless free drink tickets. All in all, the evening was quite enjoyable.
